Invitation to try out a new venue for a weekly Crit series - Sept 12th

The St. Catharines’ Cycling Club is looking to start up a weekly crit racing series in 2022. They’ve found what appears to be a pretty neat venue, the Dunnville Air Park (https://dunnvilleairpark.com/auto-track/).

They’ve reached out to us, the Hamilton Cycling Club, and Midweek to invite members to come out on the 12th to try out the facilities, do some racing.

Here’s their pitch:
The SCCC cordially invites your club members to attend and ride with us at the Dunnville Airport in an organized fashion to assess the facilities.

These training rides will be self seeded into A, B and C Levels, with the first ride commencing at 9:00 am. A SCCC Ride Tech Guide will be forwarded to you in the next day or so to share with you membership.

I do not believe a venture of this nature has been attempted, where neighbouring clubs get together for an organized ride.

There is no cost or obligation to your club…just come out for a ride at a very unique facility to help us assess it for a 2022 Criterium Series.

The Dunnville Airport Track rental fees of $600 have been paid by the SCCC, however, any rider donation to offset the rental fees will be greatly appreciated.

Looking at satellite view, and the website, it looks like there’s some good options for making courses, including having some tighter corners and more of them. (I’ve done the midweek crit a while ago, and the one thing is that there’s really not a whole lot of cornering or really tehnical bits.)

Stay tuned for more details. We’ll be making this an official WCC ride, so we’ll put out the usual sign-up form to the ride planning category.
