Thanks everyone for making the 2024 WCC time trial series a big success!
I wanted to reach out to all club members to gather your feedback and capture any opportunities for improvement for next year.
(For some reason I can no longer create a survey…not sure why so please answer the follow questions below)
1 - Were you happy with our Streicher line course?
2 - Would you like to return to Crowsfoot in 2025?
3 - Would you like a mix of courses in 2025?
4 - Would you like a 40km TT in 2025?
5 - Were you happy with the class rules for aero and road bike?
6 - Would you like medals provided at the end of the season for the fastest times and also the most improved rider for men and women?
Hi Chris. I’ll kick this off. Personally, I prefer the Streicher Line course as it’s more convenient for me. I do think it has less traffic issues compared to Crowsfoot and has a few undulating elevation changes. I’d be keen on a 40k course too. I don’t know think medals are needed for anything but also not against that either. Overall I enjoy these even though they hurt so good!!
as a co-coordinator of these events it was a GRRRREAT year … I had hoped to pull off a 40K this year, but just couldn’t find a time with all of my OC Officiating duties during the year. (I was Chief official for the Provincial TT – and you were all welcome to join in that fun!! )
For myself – having ridden these TT’s after setting up the signage – I agree with everything Luke has said about Streicher Line – but that’s just because it’s more convenient for me.
I do have an ~18km TT loop in Wilmot Township that has no stop signs (all right turns that have right of way) – full bike lanes on more major roads, and quiet township roads – with a rolling profile. The biggest hill is early and there is a wee rise just before the finish. I’d love to try that some Sunday for the best chance of light traffic.
We have the 20km Punkeydoodle’s Corner TT on Oxford Rd 5 – but that should be run around 7 pm for the best chance at lighter traffic.
The 40k TT’s would be out in the country… either Newry or Monkton … we’ll try to work one in this coming year.
I don’t think we need the awards… these really are just for the individuals to see how their training and fitness level is doing through the year. I know for myself, I saw the progression throughout the season … where I ended up with a faster time each month. With that in mind it’s best to hold the entire season on the same course for the Thursday TT’s. This way we have are comparing apples to apples. If we hold a 40K TT that’s a different race and can move around if we want to hold more then one in a summer… although I would like to see us encourage everyone to attend the Provincial TT… it’s a great way to give yourself a goal to work towards. ANYONE from our club would be more then welcome and it’s really not any different then doing the Thursday night TT or the weekend 40k. You’re racing the clock and it’s very well organized… and supported (with police at any turn-around and controlling access to the course at other points) to make it even safer for all.
Chris and I look forward to your feedback and will take it into account for the 2025 season. Have a great winter … and if you’re interested the Velodrome is always open to keep those legs spinning over the winter.
Cheers!

Hi Chris and Kevin,
I’ll respond on behalf of my boys, Jake and Ian. They both really enjoyed the series and I think they made it to all the events this year. The consistant course was great to measure how they improved over the season and each event they saw improvement. As a parent that is familiar with the roads as well, I prefered them on the less busy Stricher vs Crowsfoot. a 40km course would be great, but it would be valuable to know the location and date well in advance to help plan for, with busy race season. I also agree medals and podiums are not necessary, but it might be interesting to do a lowest combined time over 3 of the 5 events. Or even a team or duo time trial allowing 2 or more to work together could be fun to add to the mix. Thanks again for a fun season, and they will both be out again next year.
Thanks for putting on these TTs, I really enjoyed them this past season,
I’m happy with the Streicher course, although I like the Crowsfoot course too I find there’s more traffic there and the Streicher course has more of a hill to keep things interesting.
I would love to do a 40km course and am very keen on that for next year.
I also would like to know when these will be scheduled in advance to work around my race schedule but I understand you’re doing this on your own time and that might be challenging.
I don’t think awards are necessary but I do like looking at the posted results.
Thanks everyone for your feedback appreciate it. We will target the first Wednesday of every month for our TT except for those weeks that have a long weekend fall during that week. I’ll work with Kevin on next years schedule and we’ll share it well in advance.
Also we’ll officially put a 40km TT in the schedule for next year as well. (Either a few weeks before Nationals or Provincials) The Newry TT is nice at 39.5km and we can park at the school there.
I just heard back from the organizers of the Provincial TT Championships. It’s being held Friday Aug 22nd in North Humberland county.
Now that we have this date we’ll finalize the 2025 schedule shortly including a 40km ITT. I’ll create a separate post once it’s locked down and will link to it in this thread.
