This Sunday is the fourth O-Cup in Toronto at Christie Pits. It’s been a couple years since they’ve held a race there, but Conner and others have brought it back after a lot of work trying to convince the city to let it run.
Expect some flat power sections and short but steep pitches up the banks around the park. There should be a huge turn out since it’s right in Toronto, so it’ll be a party.
Registration closes this Thursday at midnight. If you register for single speed and it’s your second race then it’s FREE! There are also some “try-a-race” options, so there’s something for everyone.
I’m good without the tent. We could still take one in, the drop off just wouldn’t be convenient and we’d have to walk it in.
If the forecast calls for rain closer to the day maybe I’ll go early and set it up. Hopefully it’s nice, we can bring chairs and find a spot to leave our stuff. I might carry our small bike rack in.
Wow. I just checked out registration numbers for the master categories
M1: 11
M2: 36
M3: 52
Those are big fields. Wow.
I really should be racing in M3, but I don’t like getting up early and probably wouldn’t make it for the 9am race (especially for races that are 2h away). So I’ll be fighting at the back of M2 trying not to be last
Singlespeed race is FREE if it’s your second race. Just click the singlespeed checkbox when registering. It says $40, but you get $20 off each of your races at checkout.
I also completed registration for M2. Now 40 people in M2. With a group this large the starting position is going to really matter But that is great thing.
Going to be a blast I think!
Now I really wish I could have raced at Dam Cross for some o-cup points. Hopefully my 4th place at Duntroon will get me near the front. I wish Cowbell counted!
Last call for sign-up. Register tonight or miss out on the fun. I’m guessing they’ll have over 300 registrations for the day. Beats my high of 260 something when we hosted provincials at KWCX a few years ago.
