Christie Pits Cross - O-Cup #4 Oct 27, 2024

This Sunday is the fourth O-Cup in Toronto at Christie Pits. It’s been a couple years since they’ve held a race there, but Conner and others have brought it back after a lot of work trying to convince the city to let it run.

Expect some flat power sections and short but steep pitches up the banks around the park. There should be a huge turn out since it’s right in Toronto, so it’ll be a party.

Registration closes this Thursday at midnight. If you register for single speed and it’s your second race then it’s FREE! There are also some “try-a-race” options, so there’s something for everyone.

Register here. Tech guide here.

I’m registered for M2 and single speed, should be fun.

How else is going, and what are you racing?

I’ll be there …keeping an eye on all you crazy racers. Keep it safe and fun. Remember Halloween costumes are a MUST have for the most fun.

See you all there.

We have signed up I’m doing both single speed and M2. Devin is still annoyed he isn’t old enough to ride SS.

I’m not planning on bringing the tent unless others really want it as we need to be there before 8am for that.

Rob

I’m good without the tent. We could still take one in, the drop off just wouldn’t be convenient and we’d have to walk it in.

If the forecast calls for rain closer to the day maybe I’ll go early and set it up. Hopefully it’s nice, we can bring chairs and find a spot to leave our stuff. I might carry our small bike rack in.

Wow. I just checked out registration numbers for the master categories
M1: 11
M2: 36
M3: 52
Those are big fields. Wow.
I really should be racing in M3, but I don’t like getting up early and probably wouldn’t make it for the 9am race (especially for races that are 2h away). So I’ll be fighting at the back of M2 trying not to be last

There was something like 280 registrations last night, so this one is going to be the biggest Ontario Race in a long time.

I look forward to racing you Kev.

There instagram has been pretty active if you want some entertainment, and there are rumors of another couple of rider announcements.

Whats everyone thinking for parking. If no spots near the park im seeing a good lot at a Sobey just a few blocks north.

lol. 280 registrations is impressive. Very cool.

Rob I’m going to try to hold your wheel for this one. With a field that big we can hopefully work to move up in the pack :slightly_smiling_face:

Will may also be racing in M2 so we may be able to carpool which could help a bit with parking.

I’m there all day, got to get Devin there earlish and then I’m racing SS later.

I’m in, M2 and singlespeed.

Singlespeed race is FREE if it’s your second race. Just click the singlespeed checkbox when registering. It says $40, but you get $20 off each of your races at checkout.

There’s the Loblaws on Dupont to the north, big lot. Seems like the safest bet if there’s nothing in the park.

I’ll ask about the school just north of the park. Maybe we can park there.

Registered for M2 !

I’ve asked about the team tent, hopefully there is space still.

I also completed registration for M2. Now 40 people in M2. With a group this large the starting position is going to really matter  But that is great thing.
Going to be a blast I think!

Now I really wish I could have raced at Dam Cross for some o-cup points. Hopefully my 4th place at Duntroon will get me near the front. I wish Cowbell counted!

You are still in for call ups.

Last call for sign-up. Register tonight or miss out on the fun. I’m guessing they’ll have over 300 registrations for the day. Beats my high of 260 something when we hosted provincials at KWCX a few years ago.

Haha worst parking gets highest registration.

That’s hilarious. Great to see the fun promotion. Rob, I’m sure you could still beat him…right? lol

I can’t race - sorry to miss it. Have an awesome time, racers!
