CX O-Cup #5 - Christie Pits - Oct 26

The big Ontario race of the season is this weekend. Last year there were roughly 400+ participants across all the categories and this year I’m sure there will be more. The fields are big and the crowds are bigger. One of the climbs is completely lined with people yell/cheering.

If you haven’t made it out to a race yet or have been out of it for a year or two then come on out, you don’t want to miss the party. I’ll bring the team tent and probably set it up next to the Guelph gang again.

I’ll be there in what I can only imagine will be a 40-50+ person Cat B field.

Registration and tech guide here. Reg closes Thursday Oct 23rd at 11:59 pm.

Who’s going?

Cristy Pits was definitely my favourite CX race last year. Great vibe, fun course, and lots of racers in every category. The highlight was watching people off the street racing around on rental city bikes. Very cool.

Unfortunately my boys are focused on UCI points and qualifications so we’re driving to Indianapolis this weekend instead. Wish Ontario would put together a UCI sanctioned race

We are going.

It’s cool but dry, so I’ll bring a heater and propane for the tent.

With the free kids’ lap and the bikeshare race, the number of entries is already at 334. More than 2 days of entries at Indy

Over 330 registrations? That is awesome. How could anyone NOT want to race? :slightly_smiling_face:

Over 400 registrations with over a day left to go.

It’s going to be a fun time, if anyone is on the fence just sign up, entry is only $60!

Reg closes tonight, and they have just over 500 entries. It’s going to be a fun day at Christie Pits.

I’m in!!! Slow start to racing season for me, but I’m in for the C race and singlespeed. (It was $20 as a second race)

Hopefully I’ll make it further than 500m into the race like last year. Looks like 41 people in the B race so should be a good time.

Also what tires is everyone running? I rode this morning through some of the school yards of forest heights and it was dryer than expected so I’m assuming intermediates are the choice or would you go mud front intermediate rear for some extra traction on those off cambers. I’ll bring both just in case.

Alex, take the right side in the start grid if you can. I’m sure that little twist around the drain cover will still be in the starting straight.

I’m lazy and don’t want to swap my tires after Duntroon so I’ll likely stay on my meds unless I find the time and will power to put an intermediate on the rear.

I’m sure Christie will be dry. It’s pretty sandy.

Jamie was trying to remove some of that kink. Last year, a tent appeared last minute where the course should have been, making it worse.

I’m told Christie drains really well, and it hasn’t rained in 4 days, so intermediates should be good, but there is 150 racing before us.

Good luck to those racing tomorrow!
