Last night we had our first Gravel Time trial for 2026. Wind was moderate from the West to Northwest. That made the out leg along Posey pretty tough, but then the return along Lawson was fantastic.
Roads are in good shape, they definitely haven’t been re-graveled this year yet. The crown was quite good for most of it.
Conditions were good enough for Braden to get 6th overall. After that, the rest of us were grouped in the 21:30 to 23:30 range. Everyone was over 30 km/h. (Scott Mac’s numbers were a partial estimate from his ride in Garmin Connect)
Next planned dates are July 22nd, and September 9th.

We had lovely weather and a great turnout for the Gravel Time Trial #2 of 2026 on July 22nd.
I’ve got results for 16 riders, though I think a few are missing. (check for ride start or end cropping on Strava)
@Jesse and @velodan were in the 18 minute club, enough to go to 2nd and 3rd of all time.

While the temperature was lovely, the wind was fairly strong from the northwest. As expected, the long drag west on Posey was very challenging. Of course that meant that Laswon was exceptionally fast. ( I know I got a PR on Lawson, and I’m sure several others did too).
Personally, I found the very end really tough. Heading up the hill on Powell road, then that tiny little dogleg where it turns left, right into the wind. I felt like I was about to come to a standstill.
Ha, I just checked down to 12.8 km/h, but still putting out over 300 W. 
The last planned date for 2026 is September 9th.

Jake was able to fix his hidden start position and the segment showed up.
His time was 17:48. It takes a minute to show up on the leaderboard though.

Jake looked to be going at least 10 km/h faster than me when he went by in a blur of dust so that checks out!
Noticed Alain put out a lower average power than the Kevin’s behind him, aero touches coming in key there. Time to build a gravel TT bike lol

For sure. Those aero-bars were worth 43 seconds over 12km. Especially into that headwind.
@KevRidesGravel and I compared power meter outputs and we both averaged 251 watts for 20 minutes. I was at 96% of MHR for the entire run. Kevin has a lot of MHR runway.
There’s nowhere more I can go. Time to bring out the aero helmet and disc wheels.
Or just pedal harder?
This was a cool event, thanks for organizing it! My first attempt at a TT, was happy with my pacing, just need to improve the legs a bit 
Looking forward to trying it again in a couple months!

BTW…24 people out last night for the Gravel TT.
Not everyone raced, and not are everyone’s results captured above. But a great time had by all.
As @David_Sunday said… “That was awful. When is the next one?”

The power readings for at least one of the Kevin’s (ie me) was certainly reading (very) optimistically. I think it might be the result of using the same Assioma pedals on two bikes with different crank lengths. I’m not very tall and I can get pretty aero so if I was truly putting out 267 W I’m sure I’d be ahead of Alain

Wow! Jake moved.into 2nd all time.
I’ll fix the table and the results post when I’m back home next week. But only 12 seconds off the lead.
Also, I’d say Wednesday’s conditions were not ideal. And theres an awful lot of us with our PR’s being from June 21, 2023, myself included.
