Fall is approaching and that means Waterloo Cycling Club is running two cyclo-cross races soon, Mad and Dam Cross on Oct 10th and 11th in Woodstock at Pittock Conservation Area. All the proceeds from these races go to the club and most of the volunteer work comes from the WCC with some help from the local Woodstock crowd.
Mad is a relaxed regional event that usually sees a smaller turnout. It’s the perfect event to try cross racing and has been the first race for many over the years. All you need is a Challenge Membership, which is a slight upgrade from the Ontario Cycling Community Membership.

Dam Cross is an O-Cup and sees a pretty good turnout. It’s also a great intro to cross racing, just with bigger fields and faster competition than Mad Cross. Register here, and volunteer link coming soon. As with Mad, we need help filling those important positions.
If you know any high school students that need to fill out their volunteer hours this is a great way to do it.
Registration for both events closes Thursday, Oct 8 at 11:30 pm, and no, we won’t be able to open it up the next day if you forget, so register now! We usually get a big local crowd going, but I hope to see a few new faces. It’s a fun relaxed time and no one takes cross racing too seriously.
We really need volunteer help at the races, they don’t happen without a team effort. Registration and timing assistants are the most important roles to fill if you can.
Hopefully we can get enough people to divide up the time. If you can help for a couple hours that would be great, you don’t have to be there the whole time.
We’ll provide pizza lunch each day and refreshments, maybe some special ones for course setup on Friday.
Sorry, I could only help out early on the 10th and need to be back around noon, but could do a full day on the 11th. I could also help with some setup on the 9th as well.
Nothing to be sorry about, that’s a huge amount of help.

If you want to come by for part of set up on Friday that would be amazing. With a handful of people the course will get built much faster.
I signed up for both Saturday and Sunday registration. Saturday I may have to leave around noon, but I think Sunday should be good. I’ll also have to play the Friday setup by ear. I see you have it 8-2, but I may have work stuff in the morning. I’ll update it as we get closer.
Thank you so much to everyone that has volunteered so far. We’re set for Saturday but could still use a couple people on Sunday to help the day go by smoothly. Even if you can only be there for half the day it would be a great help.
You might have better luck posting in the Road section of the forum Yakup. I’m sure there will be others interested on a nice weekend.
