Wahoo Elemnt Bolt/Roam V1 users - temporary solution to your current issue

Those of you with Wahoo Elemnt Bolt/Roam V1 bike computers are probably dealing with the current issue where it appears that your computer is not syncing to your strava/trainer road/etc.

Interesting situation, they are using a 10bit set up without a roll over counter and so, interestingly these versions of the computer can only handle 1024 weeks of data before starting from the start again….January 2006 (which is 1024 weeks ago as of this week!)

So, your rides ARE recording. They are just being tagged with dates in early January 2006.

How to deal with it (for now).

Find your ride on Strava in the 2006 time period by going to ‘My Activities’ and then use the Date column to sort from oldest to newest (click on “Date”)

This will show you your recent rides, all dated January 2006.

Open the ride and from the three dot menu, select “Export Original” to download a .fit file.

Go to: FIT File Tools and use the “Time Adjuster” to upload your .fit file and adjust the time on it.

Go back to Strava and from the ‘+’ select ‘Upload Activity’.

Add the new .fit file created from the FIT File Tools site….and you’re done!

Now to start shopping for a new bike computer….or wait to see how Wahoo gets out of this one (I don’t think it will be easy….)

I searched Strava and I have no activities showing before 2014 (when I started riding). I’ll see if there’s a further workaround or ‘fix’ that Wahoo comes up with.

That’s strange, @HeatherZ . Hmm maybe your wahoo didn’t sync.

I am keeping an eye on Wahoo’s official update page about this. An update yesterday (Aug 22) says they have a firmware solution and are testing it this weekend. They need 3 days. So hopefully by Tuesday we are out of these woods!

Really appreciate the information and clear instructions! Just returning from doing a two day event in PEI which not only had me traveling to the east coast but back in time :joy:

I tried searching by the date on the mobile app and it wouldn’t come up for me but when I manually scrolled all the way back I did find them.

A fix has been released!

From Wahoo

ROAM 1 – WR24 - 17055

BOLT 1 – WB17 - 17055

To receive the fix for future rides*, please ensure that your computer is connected to a viable Wi-Fi network and complete a standard firmware update.

I am currently updating mine….so far it’s downloaded and restarting as I type this. Will test it later today.
