Hi All - just one more weekend until our trip!! Looking forward to it. Here are some ideas for food to bring on the trip. Some suggestion/ what I am planning to bring:

  • Hot dogs and buns for the first night with ketchup and mustard (it wont be out of the cold for long before eating it) :slightly_smiling_face:

  • Oatmeal packets and fruit for breakfast

  • Dinner option 1: Pasta and canned sauce

  • Dinner option 2: Uncles ben’s Rice, canned beans and wraps (I also sometimes bring an onion and jalapeno pepper to mix in and make simple burritos)

  • Dinner option 3: Freeze dried meal

  • Does anyone else have any suggestions? I always like to learn what others eat on bike trips.

  • Snacks like dried fruit and berries, baked goods, chips, candy/snickers bars etc.

Let me know what you like to eat on bike trips. Always interested in new ideas!

On the “Route back home on July 7th”, I would recommend taking Line 40 from Road 119 to Perth Road 107 (rather than Perth Line 43) and then turning north to Amulree where you would pick up Perth Line 43 again. Line 40 is smooth and very low traffic vs the higher traffic Road 119/Perth Line 43.

Just noticed these two lightweight tents on sale at Mountain Warehouse. You’d have to call the store (Conestogo Mall) to see if they have these in stock: Search results for lightweight tent | Mountain Warehouse CA

Thanks for the advice Brent - I updated the route to take line 40 pretty much all the way as it should be quieter: Wildwood to Kitchener through Stratford | bike Tour | Komoot

Thats a great price on the lightweight tent - I worry about the quality with the price so low but definitely something to consider checking out. Much cheaper than the tent I got last year from Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL1 Bikepack Solution Dye | Big Agnes | Big Agnes Canada

We did it! We had a great trip last weekend to Wildwood Conservation area. We made it out on Friday with only a little rain and one minor issue with a back rack. Saturday we explore the lake trail at Wildwood and then went into St. Mary’s for some lunch and great bike talk, then swimming back at Wildwood and a nice chill fire for the evening. Sunday we had a lovely ride to Stratford and back home! Check out some of the pictures Wendy shared from the trip here!
