Hey Fellow WCC Riders!
Im interested in hosting another group bikepacking trip this year. Last year we had a great time with 5 of us going to the Wildwood Conservation area in early July. We talked bikes and explored some of our amazing surrounding areas!
This year Im wondering if anyone is interested in going to another local camping site for 2 nights?? Some suggestions were Guelph Lake or Rockwood Conservation areas. We would reserve a site or two and bike out on Friday, camp, have a fire and explore the area Saturday, and return home Sunday afternoon. If you have questions let me know. Open to any experience level and first time bikepackers are welcome!
I was looking at the weekends of June 13-15 or June 27-29. Open to other dates as well.

I didn’t end up joining last year’s event and wish to not make the same mistake this time. The weekend of June 27th works for me. If that’s the weekend you end up going with, I’ll be there.

I loved the bikepacking trip last year—it was a lot of fun! Unfortunately, I’m not available during those dates, but I’d be happy to join if it’s earlier in June or later in July.

I’m definitely up for another trip this year. I unfortunately can’t do the the weekend of June 27 because that is the long weekend and I will be headed north. I am ok for the other date or we can try and find another date that works for more people

I am down for bikepacking.
Also, I would be interested in hearing where others are getting gear for bikepacking. I would like to have a tent that packs up smaller. The one I have sticks way off the end of my rack.

@emily.lloyd, I hadn’t realized that is the Canada day long weekend until Geoff mentioned it. Doesn’t change my availability (I need to confirm with my family) but looks like it’s impacting others.
If we stick with that weekend, it looks like Guelph lake has more availability for camp sites. Rockwood is looking booked.

Hmmm… I can do July 4-6 too - but otherwise most of my July weekends are busy. August 22-24 would work as well. I didn’t realize how quickly the sites get booked up! Let me know if any of these new dates work. Hoping we can find some time this year.
This is a great question Karl. My tent is from Big Agnes and I love it - light, small, easy to use with lots of pockets to organize stuff. Fly Creek HV UL1 Bikepack Solution Dye | Big Agnes | Big Agnes Canada Pretty expensive though. I also hear good things about Nemo: Tents | NEMO Equipment. Overall I’m sure MEC or SAIL would have some good options too. I think in general tents have gotten a lot better in the past 10 years or so. Huge improvements in lightweight gear so if you havent looked for anything in 10+ years its time to check out the new options out there.
July 4-6 work for me
Anyone else?

Hi All - just following up on this. Anyone else available for the July 4-6 weekend? We can also look into some Sept dates as the weather is usually still really nice. If it doesn’t work out this year Ill make post earlier next year hoping we can do another adventure together!
Hello all. Is this still being planned? I’m available the July 4-6 weekend and would love to join.

Hi Hugo - looks like there could be 3 of us interested in a trip. Let me take a look this week and see if anything is still available. If anyone else is interested in joining let me know.

I’m still available those days.
Next week I’m going on my first bikepacking experience. Kitchener - Elora conservation - Rockwood - Kitchener. Want to try this out locally first before going for bigger. If those interested in the July outing are all experienced, might we want to try something a little further than originally discussed?

That sounds like a great round trip. Let me know how it goes/ how it went I am very curious. I would be interested in doing something a bit different - were you thinking like longer days on the bike (go farther) or more days at different locations? OR a bit of both? I have also taken trips out to the Provincial Parks along Lake Huron or Falls Reserve near Ben Miller. South to Turkey Point. North to Tobermory. Anywhere else you have in mind let me know. Im open to any ideas.
I was thinking of longer days as I expect # of days will be tough to extend for some. A trip up the Bruce Peninsula to Tobermory is very enticing and something I’m looking at as well. If folks want to take time off work and we do something like that together, that would be great.
Perhaps it would be good for those of us interested in doing this trip to get togeher for a coffee soon and sort out the route and plans in person.
I ended up rescheduling my trip to this coming week due to the rain we had this past week.

Meeting up to talk about trips and destinations is a great idea. We could also talk about when is the best time to go (maybe for next year). Is anyone interested in meeting up at the Cafe Pyrus Outpost sometimes in the next few weeks? I am free Friday June 13 or Saturday June 14.
I’m free that weekend to meet up and talk about some other trips

Awesome - Should we try to aim for a meet up this coming Saturday at about 1pm at the Cafe Pyrus Outpost? I am down to talk about route options and how long we could go for. I can bring some maps we can look at. Let me know if that works for you. We would maybe be an hour or so to chat and have a snack or something.
