Quick update from the meeting, they showed various bridge options that were looked at and have decided on a two span steel bridge using the centre pier. The other two piers will remain in place under the bridge but will not carry any load. So long as environmental assessment and council approval is received, construction will be completed in spring to fall 2026.
This project is the bridge over the Conestoga River only. The highway 86 crossing will be considered at a future date once new cyclist and pedestrian traffic counts are established. It will still be a great benefit as we’ll be crossing in the 50 km/hr zone rather than the 80.
