Long Distance Rides 2025

Hi All - is anyone else planning to do any long distance rides (200+km) in 2025? If so what are the details? I just signed up for some rides with Randonneurs Ontario for 200km - Grand River Cascades on May 3 looks like an awesome route. I am also interested in doing a 300 and 400km ride this year but feel nervous about signing up.

Im probably going to ride the Grand River Cascades ride, and really hope to do that 300k brevet as well. We’ll see if it’s in the stars this year.

There were some good long gravel rides organized last year as well. @KevRidesGravel organized a great ride on the Rift Ontario route that was really fun, but I missed out on the G2G and Port Dover rides, so would like to get a few more of those types of rides in.

yes I missed the G2G and Port Dover as well but would be so much fun! Will keep an eye out for those rides this year for sure.

I’ll likely do the Grand River Cascades brevet too! It’s a new route and should be fun!

BTW, RO also has an annual team event during the May long weekend (23-25 16-18 May this year), where teams of 2-5 riders ride their own pre-determined routes (200+ km), and all teams arrive at the same destination for a big party. There are two formats for this event:

Fleche teams: teams must have min 3 and max 5 riders; they need to ride 360+ km in 24 hrs together following a set of rules (e.g., no stop is longer than 2hrs and they need to ride a min of 25km between their 22nd and 24th hour of riding), see all rules here: Fleche Rules

Trace teams: a more relaxed version, teams of min 2 riders ride 200+ km over 1-2 days, usually during daylight hours, with the option of an overnight stop. There is no constraint on the length of stops or kms to ride in the last two hours of their set arrival time.

This year’s destination is St Jacobs! In case anyone is interested in putting teams together for this event.

This is a great idea but I’m unfortunately not available that weekend this year. Maybe next year?

I will likely do the Win-del Velodrome as a permanent sometime in April. Let me know if you’d like to ride it together, and we’ll coordinate.
