Help get Jake McLean to the World Championships

Over the past few seasons WCC has been a huge part of Jakes success - through the fiananical support the club has provided in the form of a Bursury as well as the community and sharing of knowledge and camaraderie on rides.

For those who do not know Jake McLean, he is not your average 17-year-old. He’s a dedicated, driven, and fiercely talented Canadian road and track cyclist with a passion that burns brighter with every pedal stroke. Over the years, Jake has poured his heart and soul into cycling, earning an incredible 13 national championships on both the road and the velodrome. His journey has been defined by discipline, sacrifice, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

And now, that journey is about to reach a new peak.

This August, Jake will proudly wear the maple leaf as a member of the Canadian Junior National Team at the UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. It’s a dream he’s been chasing for years—and now, thanks to his hard work and exceptional performances, it’s finally come true. Jake will be competing in up to five world-class events, representing not just his country, but every young athlete who dares to dream big and put in the work to make it real.

But getting to the world stage isn’t just about talent and determination—it’s also about resources. And that’s where we need your help.

The cost of participating in the World Championships is substantial—over $5,000, and that’s in addition to Jake’s already full season of racing and training. The expenses cover international flights, training camps, travel logistics, accommodations, food, and more. Just two weeks before the event, Jake will be attending a critical training camp in Bromont, Quebec, where he’ll sharpen his form and tactics alongside his national teammates in preparation for the world’s best.

For a young athlete and his family, these costs add up quickly. That’s why we’re launching this GoFundMe campaign to help Jake chase his dream and alleviate the financial burden that comes with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Jake doesn’t just love cycling—he lives it. His daily schedule revolves around training, recovery, and pushing himself to be better. He’s missed out on parties, downtime, and the usual teenage rites of passage—not because he had to, but because he wanted to. Because he saw something bigger: the chance to wear Canada’s colors, to race against the best in the world, and to show what heart, grit, and passion can achieve.

This is more than just a trip to Europe. This is about investing in a young Canadian athlete’s dream. It’s about showing Jake that when you dedicate yourself to something bigger than yourself, your community will stand behind you.

Your contribution—no matter how big or small—will go directly toward helping Jake reach the start line in Apeldoorn fully prepared and focused. You’re not just supporting a race. You’re supporting years of early mornings, long rides, bruises, breakthroughs, and the belief that hard work pays off.

Let’s help Jake McLean stand on the world stage with pride, knowing he got there not just through talent, but through the love and support of those who believe in him.

Please donate today and share Jake’s story. Help us make this dream a reality.
