As part of our Lead mandate, the Club is holding our annual Spring cleanup of Hessen Strasse on Saturday May 2nd. Hessen Strasse has been a big part of the Club’s Tuesday rides for many years and keeping it tidy is one way we can give back to our local community. We’re looking for volunteers to help with the litter pickup as well as folks who’d like to make a pot of chili to support the event. We’ve got lots of treat providers this year!!
We could also use someone to help serve lunch and drive work crews out to their start point on the road.
We need a few more people for each of two litter pickup shifts (9-11 am and 11 -1), with lunch provided after each shift.
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear and we’ll provide safety vests and a safety brief before starting.

My husband is now working on Saturday and I don’t have a way to get out there. Anyone happen to live in the University and Bridge area that could give me a lift for the 9am shift?

Many thanks to our volunteers for cleaning up Hessen Strasse in Wellesley Township this morning. Despite the cold and the wind we filled almost forty garbage bags with litter!
Thank you @Scott for organizing this event this year. Your leadership in keeping this event going is duly noted. It was a chilly morning standing around waiting, but was quite tolerable once you began walking and gathering garbage. I know from past encounters with local people in the road, that they truly appreciate our service and leadership.
As an FYI for the Club, we did hear a local resident mention that a portion of Hessen Strasse is up for repaving this year. I was very happy to hear this news as that road has some nasty long cracks and pot holes on it.
