Ride Meetup Category

Hi WCC Members!

We have created a new category on the forum called “Ride Meetups”. The category was created to allow members an area to arrange non-official ride meetups for those who can’t get to the official rides or just want something different. We realize we can’t all be everywhere at once so this category can provide us place to connect with others and continue to grow our “riding friends” circle.

Note: these are non-sanctioned rides by the WCC and are not covered by your WCC member insurance.

Great idea! I can see myself using this in the future.

A request…to maybe shine more light on this… On the main page for the forum (which shows ALL the threads/conversations) the table currently shows:

Topic — user bubbles — Replies — Views — Activity

Would it be possible to add a column (feel free to remove the user replies bubbles or ‘views’ if space is an issue) that shows the ‘category’ each ‘topic’ is located in? This will help (me…and others?) quickly scan down this list to identify specific categories we are interested in (e.g. “Ride Meet Up” and “Rides”).

I know. I can go to those categories specifically, but I always start my visit to the forum directly to this ‘front page’ showing all the topics and it would be nice to quickly scan the list for specific categories I’m interested in reading.

We re about to hopefully move to a new hosted version of Discourse which might allow this out the box. There does seem to be a way to do it with a theme (I found this: Add Category Column - #30 by tessus - Theme component - Discourse Meta) but we will get the platform moved first before trying to implement any changes :slight_smile:

Hopefully it has been locked to members. Do not need the general public knowing who is not at home.

Yes, it is members only @Bikedawn so there is some added security there. Any forum with a padlock symbol next to it is restricted access of some kind.
