According to The Record:
"A plan to rehabilitate West Montrose’s historic covered ‘Kissing Bridge’ is going to regional council for approval.
"The recommendation includes removal of the existing steel Bailey trusses installed in 1959, replacement and reinforcement of deteriorated wood, as well as an overhead height restriction bar on the north approach to prevent large vehicles from damaging the bridge.
“Construction is planned to start next spring and be complete by spring 2026.”
So, sounds like the plan just needs to be approved and funded by the Region, then will move forward. The article makes it sound like that’s just an administrative step, so hopefully this will go forward as it’s part of a lot of our routes!
