Description: Every year since 2021, WCC has run a “Vintage Bike Ride” on Father’s Day, both as a way of helping you remember and celebrate your father, and as an excuse to purchase and ride yet another bike. N+1 baby… We gather with our “vintage” bikes (typically a road bike >25 years old made out of alloy or steel, with separate brake and gear shift levers). But riders have also shown up on old mountain bikes, old fixies/track bikes, and even newer bikes in a pinch. Some riders also add in vintage kit, shoes, and even helmets/cycling caps. What matters is showing up to ride! We tool around the countryside for awhile, stop in Maryhill for snacks and photo ops, then return to RIM Park for a post-ride feast. Breakdowns are common with these old bikes, so come prepared with some basic tools and a replacement tube with CO2 canister or mini-pump. Pace is conversational and relaxed, with regroupings at stop signs and corners.

This year there will be prizes for: oldest bike, most authentic kit, highest number of bike years plus rider age, vintage bike most likely to be found in the pro peloton XX years ago, etc.

In order to plan the food, please indicate whether you are “going”, “interested”, etc.

Ok, confirmed numbers are still low, and we will be making a go/no go decision by Saturday morning. So if you plan to do this ride PLEASE register your vote!

Not sure if this is just for me, but it shows up under “Ride” category that is in a green area/section VS where most of the other regular rides are shown in the “RIDES” section that is in red.

I was not able to post under the red section because I am not an approved ride leader (I was in the past…just not this year). But thanks for confirming!

Unfortunately we are just not getting the numbers we hoped for this year (lots of people already doing things on Father’s Day) so we will cancel this event for 2026.

Hope to redo this event in 2027!
