Slaydy Ride (Ladies MTB) - June 22

Hello,

The Slaydy Ride is on for Monday night, trail conditions permitting. The ride will leave from the Glasgow trailhead @ 6:00pm.

Special for this week: Ziggy’s Cycle is offering free suspension set-up in the parking lot prior to the ride. If you are interested in this, please sign-up for a time here.

Please feel free to bring a beverage and stay for the post-ride social!

Ride Details:

  • The ride is leaving at 6:00pm, unless otherwise communicated. Try to arrive at least 5-10 minutes earlier to make sure you and your bike are ready and to get organized into your ride group.
  • Groups will be divided according to pace. There will be a pre-assigned leader for each group. (Typically we split into 2 to 4 groups, depending on the number of participants.)
  • Please sign-up for the ride in advance. This will allow us to plan for the number of groups needed as well as provide current emergency contact information. A new form will be made available each week.
  • All participants need to be in good health. We will follow public health guidelines.
  • All riders need to have a bike in working order, wear a helmet and be self-sufficient in terms of tools, tubes, water and snacks.
  • Don’t forget to wear insect repellent.
  • Special thanks to Ziggy’s Cycle for sponsoring the rides!

Memberships:
For insurance reasons, all riders need to hold a valid Ontario Cycling membership. Waterloo Cycling Club membership required unless participating with an Ontario Cycling Day Pass. (Note: Although this ride is hosted by Ziggy’s Cycle, Ziggy’s Cycle is not a registered club with Ontario Cycling.)

Group Communication:

  • Email List: If you wish to be contacted about the rides via email, please send me a note and I will add you to our google group.
  • WhatsApp: Ride communications are also made over our WhatsApp chat. This group is also a great way to connect with other riders outside of our weekly rides. Send me your phone number if you would like to be added to our WhatsApp chat group.

Looking forward to our ride!

Jo

With the rain we had this morning, it is unlikely the Hydrocut will be dry enough for riding tonight. There are a couple of guys heading out this afternoon to clear downed trees and they will re-check conditions.

Plan B will be to do a gravel ride, leaving from Ziggy’s at 6pm. The ride will be suitable for mountain bikes, gravel and cyclocross bikes. Suspension setup will then take place at Ziggy’s for those that signed up.

I will make a call by 3pm.

The Hydrocut trails are still too wet. We will leave from Ziggy’s tonight for a gravel ride.
