I wondered if the club had ever done any group buys (also known as bulk purchases) of bikes or equipment through the club sponsors and/or any local bike shops?
With winter approaching, I’m thinking of upgrading my home trainer setup (not getting a wahoo kickr bike, likely a v5 kickr and climb). I was thinking others might be doing that same thing and if we got enough people interested maybe we could negotiate a discount?
In the same vein, I’m also thinking of ordering a new aero bike for next year (hopefully with the new 12 speed Di2) and knowing a few people also thinking about the same thing, maybe we could do a group buy for that too?
So I guess there are two questions here:
- Has this ever been done before and is there an existing process?
- Is there actually any interest in this at all?
