Hello everyone,
I just got Garmin Varia Rtl515.
I looked at the instruction picture and found out a big problem.
I am very short, so is my seat post.
Is there anyway I can still mount the light to my bike?
If anyone have an idea please let me know.
Thank you,
Rei

You could get one of those Varia mounts that are secured to your saddle rails instead. There should be more room for clearance

This is my setup:

Thank you.
I am worried that I still wouldn’t have enough angle as shown in the instruction.
Do you think a seat rail mount works for my bike?

Hm I think it’s hard to tell for sure from a picture. It could be an idea to buy a saddle mount (readily available on Amazon) and try out the radar in a couple of rides. Depending on where you got the radar from, if things don’t work out you could always return

I will buy from Amazon to try. Thank you for your help. Rei

If you need a temporary solution, you might be able to mount it on your helmet. (I had the same problem when I rented a fat bike and had not much seat post)

Check if there are two holes under your seat. These are specific to the seat manufacturer, but could be used to install a quater-turn adapter.

> As an option and something working very well for me is this under seat mount from Amazon. It is very secure and puts the Varia at the right height. If you are riding with a seat mounted bag (I am not, all my items ride in my jersey pockets…this might not work for you… Also, this will pretty much fits any bike. I tried a varia on the back of my helmet and found the weight annoying after a while, and it’ll detect things when looking around.

I’ve used my radar on my seat stay in a pinch but it does reduce its efftectiveness. I also had to tape it since it was just a temporary experiment.

Thank you for sharing your setting and experience about an installation of Garmin Varia.
I decided to try this setting. Hope it works.

I purchased a mount and adapter from the maker REC MOUNTS. It works! They have specific parts for your saddle. Mine is Prologo.
I rode with a radar and confirmed that it detected a car.
Thank you for all of you who gave me an idea and suggestions.
